About Us
Library Philosophy
The school library is a vital part of the learning community that supports the school’s social and academic development within a community of collaboration. The library works to create a love of literacy and learning. The school library provides a safe environment for students to find books that are mirrors and windows, reflecting the diversity of the community. The library media program also promotes the responsible consumption of information with a critical eye.
Library Mission Statement
The mission of the Oxford Elementary School library program is to foster a love of reading and curiosity by providing a space that is equitable, welcoming, and safe and to provide resources that support personal, academic, and life-long learning for all.

Staff
Taleah Thomas
Education: I graduated from Jacksonville State University with an Educational Specialist Degree in Library Media in August 2020. I also earned my Master’s Degree in Library Media in December 2017. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Collaborative/Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University in December 2014.
Experience: I began my teaching career in 2014 and have taught first through third grades, as well as technology. I have been at Oxford City Schools since August 2020. I am now Oxford Elementary's School’s media specialist. As a media specialist, I strive to create a welcoming environment where students can explore books, develop a love of reading, and build lifelong learning skills.
Bio: I am married to my husband, Avery, and we have two daughters, Avery Grace and Amelia. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, traveling, and trying new foods. I’m a big fan of all things Disney and, of course, a good book!
